"approachable and practical to use"

Occupational therapist Maartje de Jong on the re-mind

I use the Re-mind regularly in practice and I also lend it to patients often. It is a simple but very effective tool that acts as a support to become more aware of one's posture. Many patients find it difficult to keep thinking about their new, learned posture during the day. This is precisely when the Re-mind offers a solution: it provides a subtle reminder and thus helps to better apply what was learned in therapy in daily life.

I find that patients make faster progress as a result, as they are actively encouraged to correct and maintain their posture. The great thing is that it is not a complicated addition, but rather low-threshold and practical to use. For many people, this makes the difference between know what to do and actually do it persevere in their daily activities.

A good example is a 77-year-old lady who came to me with posture-related complaints. Due to a combination of mental and physical complaints, her posture became increasingly worse and she made herself smaller. With some practical posture tips, she soon noticed a reduction in her complaints, but she found it very difficult to master her new posture. Until I gave her the Re-mind. This little device gave her that extra push to think about her posture more often. She is now complaint-free and still uses the Re-mind every day. As she says herself: “At my age, it's just hard to remember things like this, but this little device helps remind me. This keeps my posture good and my symptoms gone. Besides, it's a nice reminder that I can be seen and thus sit up straighter.”

In short: the Re-mind is a valuable addition within the practice and I continue to enjoy using it to support my patients on their way to a lasting improvement of their posture and complaints.
